The CHarLEStON Project was inspired by the street artist JR’s 2011 TEDx wish to change the world through art. The founders of TCP believe in this wish so much they added an addendum of sorts: Could arts education change the world? How do we explore that? TCP is designed to discover what it is about artistic minds that spurs creativity and innovation. This is done by connecting artists across the world and understanding who they are, what inspires them, and how arts education affects their lives. Communities are built on such ideas, and each one is worth sharing.
We want to start with our project with our home state of South Carolina. South Carolina has a comprehensive arts educational system that is supported by the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Products of this system belong to an intimate SC community and provides the perfect bedrock on which to build a network innovative enough to spread to the world. At the culmination of TCP, a showcase of the creativity encouraged in SC will be revealed via state-wide participation in the Official INside OUT Project. We hope Charleston agrees to host INside OUT and act as our state's canvas.
